Introduction to Pattern Drafting & Garment Making Portfolio (Week 6,7,8)

  WEEK 6  In week 6, Ms. Melina began the class with a brief introduction to the task and provided a step-by-step demonstration on sewing a shirt using calico fabric. We started by practicing the lock stitching technique, ensuring our stitches were precise and clean. These completed exercises were then neatly stored in our prepared A3 files folder for future reference. Following Ms. Melina's guidance, I proceeded to cut the fabric pieces needed for the shirt. Step by step, I carefully sewed the pieces together, ensuring each seam was accurate. This process reinforced my understanding of garment construction and the importance of attention to detail. By the end of this week, I had completed 70% of the shirt, feeling a sense of accomplishment in applying these techniques to a practical work. Introduction to Pattern Drafting & Garment Making Portfolio (Week 5)

  Week 5  (Fabric shops and Market place we visited)  (National Textile Museum) (beautiful places we passby, one of the best memories)  In week 5, me and my classmates went on study tour with Ms Melina to central market places, fabric shops and national textile museum. The weather was really hot and it's tiring to walk around from place to place under the sun but I really enjoyed spending with my friends and learning new knowledge about traditional clothing, textiles, jewelry and culture. Ms Melina also took us to fabric shops where we can buy beautiful and high quality fabrics for cheaper prices. I'm really thankful to Ms Melina for taking her time to show us around and making our day wonderful. Within week 5, I also finished and submitted the assignment task 1 which is drafting and making pattern blocks.   (Assignment task 01)

Week 4  (Basic Bodice block) (Basic bodice block)  (basic bodice & skirt ) (basic Bodice)  (Basic sleeve block)  (Men's bodice pattern block)  In week 4,  I learned how to make pattern blocks for assignment task 01. it was really tiring day as we have to finish all 13 pattern blocks in class. But I learned a lot in class so it's worth it. We learned basic bodice, sleeve, pants, skirts for both men and women. I believe those are essential skills that I need for making my future designs.

  Week 3  (Basic Sleeve pattern)  ( my attempt to draw basic sleeve patten)  (Calicos) (Basic stitches by sewing machine) (types of overlock stitches) Week 3 is my first time going the class. Ms Melina teach us how to draw basic sleeve pattern on mahjong paper. And, I also learned basic sewing techniques and overlocks stitches using calico fabric. It was fun experiences for me to learn sewing techniques that are fundamental skills in making clothes.

  Week 2  (Basic Women's Bodice Block)  (My attempt of drawing Basic Bodice pattern)  I also missed second week of class because of my visa delay so I missed week 2 lessons too.  According to my classmates, Ms Melina continue to teach about how to draw pattern blocks on mahjong paper. This week, she taught us  how to draft basic bodice pattern block (size 10 & 12)  on mahjong paper and she also introduced basic sewing technique and how to use machine for the first time which I unfortunately missed the chance to try out . The pictures shown above are week 2 lesson which are the basic bodice pattern. 

Introduction to Pattern Drafting & Garment Making Portfolio (Week 1)

Week 1                                 (Basic Skirt Pattern )  Unfortunately, I missed first week of class because of my visa delay so I missed week 1 lessons. I joined the class on week 3 and start to learn from our tutor Ms Melina who is really great teacher. My teacher and all my classmates are really friendly and welcomed me warmly. Ms Melina always help me to catch up with the lessons I missed and the things I don't understand.  According to my classmates, in week 1, Ms Melina introduced us to the tools that we need to make patterns drafting and garment making. And, she also taught us size calculation of 12 and 10 and taught us  how to draw basic patterns on mahjong paper. The pictures shown above are week 1 lesson which are the basic patterns of the skirt.
